Malrik Veynor was once a revered knight of the Celestian Order, sworn to protect the realms of light from the encroaching darkness. Born in the tranquil village of Lorithan, he was raised with tales of honor and valor. From a young age, his unmatched skill with the blade and his unwavering dedication to justice earned him the admiration of his peers and the blessings of his superiors.

But Malrik’s fate was sealed when, during a critical battle against the Dreadspawn, he defied orders to protect his closest companion, an act that resulted in catastrophic losses for his regiment. Banished from the Order and branded a traitor, he wandered the desolate lands, burdened by guilt and shame.

In his exile, Malrik stumbled upon an ancient ruin said to be the prison of Kytharos, an ancient being of shadow and despair. Desperate to redeem himself, Malrik sought Kytharos’s power to vanquish the Dreadspawn for good. However, the being offered him a grim pact: wield its immense power, but at the cost of his soul. Consumed by his desire for redemption, Malrik accepted.

The transformation was both a blessing and a curse. His once-radiant wings turned black and frayed, a symbol of the corruption he now bore. The sword he wielded became infused with the essence of shadow, granting him unparalleled strength but tethering him to Kytharos’s will. The swirling mist that follows him is a manifestation of the torment within—a constant reminder of the price he paid.
