Sir Dain Ironshade was once a humble blacksmith in the village of Ashwyn, a settlement nestled in the shadow of the towering fortress of Greystone Keep. His life was unremarkable until the day marauders swept through his village, leaving ruin in their wake. Armed only with a blade of his own forging, Dain stood alone against the invaders, buying enough time for the villagers to flee to safety. His act of courage did not go unnoticed.

The lord of Greystone Keep, impressed by his bravery, offered him a position among the castle’s knights. Reluctantly, Dain accepted, knowing that his hands, once meant to craft tools of creation, were now destined to wield weapons of destruction. Over the years, Dain rose through the ranks, earning the title of “Keeper of the Dusk” for his tireless vigilance during the twilight hours when most of the castle’s defenders sought rest.

But Sir Dain’s life is far from virtuous. Though he protects the castle, his heart has grown cold and weary. He resents the nobility he serves, seeing their lavish lifestyles as a betrayal of the common folk he once belonged to. Dain has been known to turn a blind eye to injustice if it benefits him, accepting bribes or allowing certain acts of cruelty to go unpunished.

Despite his moral failings, Dain holds true to one ideal: the castle walls must never fall. To him, Greystone Keep is more than stone and mortar; it is a sanctuary for those who cannot defend themselves. While his methods may be questionable, his resolve is unshakable. As the sun sets behind the castle each evening, casting his silhouette against the golden glow, Dain stands as both a savior and a shadow—an imperfect protector of an imperfect world.
